Front-End Developer

Pulselive is currently looking for experienced front-end web application developers to join our front-end development team and take responsibility for the delivery of our future digital products and services that are used by millions of sports fans across the world on a daily basis.

With several open positions available on the team we are open to applications from candidates with a range of experience, however all candidates must possess strong expertise in highly dynamic web interface developments – specifically Javascript.

As an integral part of the front end development team you will be expected to take a proactive role in shaping the future of our products and services. As a relatively small company of circa 35 people, all our developers are empowered to think creatively and have a real input into the continued evolution of our product and service offering. To make it clear – we need people who think, create and deliver!

You will work within a team of Front-End Designers and Developers with an emphasis on producing engaging and high performance web applications using Javascript, HTML5, CSS and Java. You must have an expert knowledge of working with web service architected systems, efficiently handling JSON data and templating into an intuitive UI.

You will work in close collaboration with various stakeholders in the business outside of your team including the Creative and Back-end teams, it is key to have a good balance between maintaining design quality and technical integrity with anything you build. You will use your knowledge and experience to define considered integration with the back-end team that provide flexible and suitable solutions for large-scale digital platforms.

Specifically the role will require you to:

  • Produce, update and maintain core website functionality using Javascript, this includes the use of third party frameworks/libraries when relevant (jQuery, Underscore, Angular etc.)
  • Have excellent, in browser, debugging skills allowing you to identify and fix issues efficiently
  • Integrate HTML and CSS work from the Front-End Designers into a Java driven platform
  • Input into processes and build workflow within Front-End Development
  • Deliver projects on time and in full whilst also handling day-to-day operational issues
  • Develop, maintain and execute testing plans
  • Produce, update and maintain technical documentation
  • Strive to try new technologies and techniques, sharing your knowledge and experiences with the team
  • The role can be based at either of our offices, Sony’s headquarters in Basingstoke (35 minutes from Clapham Junction) or Pulselive’s London office in Oval (Northern Line).


The ideal candidate will be an experienced Web Developer with a strong background in developing front-ends to dynamic large-scale websites. Expert Javascript skills, or a willingness to learn and enhance your existing Javascript knowledge base, is essential for this role.

The Web Developer must be expert in:

  • Javascript
 (including core design patterns)
  • HTML/5, CSS
  • AJAX and JSON
  • jQuery + plugins
  • GIT
  • JIRA
  • Other desirable skills:
  • Unit testing
  • NPM Usage
  • Node JS
  • Task running with Gulp/Grunt
  • Java

  • Strong academic record
  • At least 2 years industry experience in a similar role
